Bandwidth requirements

ISPhone use the business grade G.729 codec in our equipment which provides maximum compression without any degradation to the voice quality. This results in a 'real' bandwidth requirement of 26.8Kbps per call (includes overhead within IP packets). In practical terms that means a 2Mb IP connection will allow more than 70 simultaneous VoIP calls.

We also have the ability to provide optional bandwidth saving software (at an additional cost), which can reduce the bandwidth requirements by up to 50% between two specific destinations (i.e. the ISPhone soft-switch and your hand off point), by combining voice packets from several calls into a single packet to minimise overhead.
